apio

About and methodology

apio is an API intelligence directory: structured, cited, agent-readable comparisons of commercial APIs by capability, pricing, trust, and developer experience.

How we rank

Rankings are computed, not opinionated. Each API is scored from its own published, sourced fields: pricing transparency, free-tier and self-serve access, compliance (SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR, and more), webhooks and sandbox support, and capability breadth. The score is a measure of data-readiness for builders and coding agents, not a popularity or review average.

Every field that drives a ranking carries a citation to its source. Where a value is unknown we say so, rather than guessing. You can read the underlying data and its sources on each category and profile page.

Neutrality and how we make money

No reviews. No paid placement. Money never moves rank. Vendors can claim and maintain their profile through a flat subscription, but a claimed profile is ranked by exactly the same computed score as an unclaimed one. There are no affiliate links, no sponsored slots, and no pay-to-win.

How the data is kept fresh

Data is extracted and verified in passes, with a last-verified date shown on category pages and profiles. Anyone can propose a correction or a new product through our contribution flow; accepted edits are replayed through an audited write layer so every change is logged and attributed.
